A 23-year-old man who was killed in a three-vehicle collision on the Harbor (110) Freeway in the Vermont Slauson area of South Los Angeles was identified by county authorities Wednesday.
Jerson Simei Esparza Toro Jr. was identified as the victim by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner. Toro was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision.
California Highway Patrol officers were called to the southbound freeway and Slauson Avenue at 12:53 a.m. Tuesday where they learned a white van, a Toyota Prius and another vehicle were involved in a collision. The van was blocking the HOV lane, CHP Officer Sergio Garcia told City News Service.
His cause of death was listed as blunt force injuries sustained in the collision.
The CHP issued a SigAlert for the closure of the two fast track lanes and the first three lanes of the southbound 110 Freeway for two hours while it investigated the cause of the collision.
