A magnitude 3.9 earthquake located one mile east-southeast of North Hollywood shook parts of the Los Angeles area Sunday evening.

The earthquake occurred at 10:13 p.m. Sunday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The USGS Did You Feel It? map indicates people reported it was very light in the Van Nuys area and that it was not felt in reports from Santa Clarita to Long Beach.

The Los Angeles Fire Department did not enter its earthquake mode involving a strategic survey by land, air and sea of all districts around the city, said spokeswoman Margaret Stewart.
