A male juvenile has been arrested for allegedly taking part in a strong-armed carjacking in Culver City, authorities said.

The alleged crime took place at about 9 p.m. Monday in a parking lot in the 10800 block of Jefferson Boulevard, according to the Culver City Police Department. The female victim was approached by three young males aged 16-25 who were wearing red bandannas over their faces.

“The suspects forcefully took the victim’s purse and car keys and then quickly located her vehicle using the stolen keys. One suspect drove away in the victim’s car while the others followed in another vehicle, traveling east on Jefferson Boulevard,” police said.

The vehicle was located the following morning in Los Angeles, and the police department’s forensics unit identified a potential suspect through fingerprints recovered from the vehicle.

At about 4:10 p.m. Tuesday, detectives located the suspect and took the juvenile into custody without incident.

His name was withheld due to his age. No further information was provided about the other two suspects.

Anyone with information about the crime was asked to call the Culver City Police Department at 310-837-1221. Those who prefer to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 or visit lacrimestoppers.org.
