Police sought the public’s assistance Tuesday in locating a suspect in the fatal stabbing of a 24-year-old man in MacArthur Park.

Joey Darnell Thomas was killed on Aug. 6, 2024, near the intersection of Westlake Avenue and Sixth Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The motive for the fatal attack remains unclear, and detectives, along with Thomas’ family, urged the public to help identify the suspect and bring the person to justice.

The LAPD released video of the suspect, who is seen with a shaved head, wearing a dark green sweatshirt or sweater and dark pants. The video can be viewed at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jreF0_D_Nes.

The Los Angeles City Council has approved a $50,000 reward for information leading to the perpetrator’s identity, arrest and conviction.
