A 23-year-old man suspected of fatally stabbing a man in Lancaster has been taken into custody, sheriff’s officials announced Wednesday.
Ruben Rosario was arrested Friday after a deputy from the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station stopped him at an undisclosed location, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau.
He was booked on suspicion of murdering Manuel Covarrubias, who was found on March 12 with multiple stab wounds to his head and neck in the 1800 block of Avenue I, sheriff’s officials said.
Deputies from the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station initially responded to reports of a gunshot victim but discovered Covarrubias had been stabbed. They provided medical aid until Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics arrived, but Covarrubias later died at a hospital, according to sheriff’s officials.
Homicide investigators presented the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for filing on Tuesday, and Rosario has since been charged with murder.
