A 22-year-old man was struck and killed while walking on a Temecula street, authorities said Thursday.
Gavin Ladue of Fate, Texas was fatally hit shortly after 9 p.m. Wednesday on Ynez Road, just south of Overland Drive, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
The agency stated that Ladue was on the four-lane corridor when a motorist ran over him. It was unclear whether the victim was in a lane, crossing, or walking along one of the wide shoulders when the impact occurred.
The driver, whose identity was not disclosed, immediately stopped, according to sheriff’s officials.
Ladue was found in grave condition and was rushed to Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar, where he died 45 minutes later.
The motorist was questioned but not arrested.
