A 35-year-old man was charged Friday with stabbing an Orange County Sheriff’s Department deputy in San Clemente.
Moses Paulisin was charged with attempted murder, willful resisting a peace office resulting in injury, assault with a weapon on a peace officer and obstructing an officer, all felonies.
Paulisin did not enter a plea at his arraignment in the jail courtroom in Santa Ana Friday. His arraignment was rescheduled for April 4 in the Harbor Justice Center in Newport Beach.
Paulisin was arrested about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at San Onofre State Beach by state parks rangers, according to Orange County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Carrie Braun.
The deputy was treated for a neck wound and released from a hospital Tuesday night and was expected to fully recover, Braun said.
The deputy, on patrol with a partner conducting homeless outreach, was assaulted about 2:15 p.m. Tuesday in the area of Avenida Pico and Calle de Los Molinos, according to Braun.
