A man was shot Friday on a street in the Historic South-Central area of Los Angeles, authorities said.

The shooting occurred at 7:11 a.m. Friday in the 400 block of East 20th Street between Maple Avenue and Trinity Street, Los Angeles Police Department Officer Drake Madison told City News Service.

Madison could not confirm that the 35-year-old victim had died, but video shown on Fox11 showed a covered body under a white canopy at the scene.

A suspect was in custody, Madison said.

No further information was immediately available.
