Police sought the public’s assistance Tuesday in locating the man suspected of sexually assaulting a 32-year-old woman at a South Los Angeles supermarket.
The woman reported at 11:13 a.m. on Aug. 25 that she was sexually assaulted while shopping at the Ralphs store at 2600 South Vermont Avenue, near Adams Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The suspect appeared to follow the woman throughout the store, walked behind her and grabbed her from behind. The suspect then left the store, punched an elderly woman in the chest and left in an acquaintance’s vehicle., police said.
Investigators described the suspect as a 5-foot-11-inch tall 30-year-old Hispanic man weighing 230 pounds. He was last seen wearing thick glasses and a burgundy windbreaker with the logo “Wake & Bake” on the back.
“The residents of Los Angeles, our friends and family members, should be free from this behavior,” Detective Robert Smery said in a statement.
Detectives have released a video clip of the suspect for possible additional victims who have yet to come forward.
