A 27-year-old convicted gang member made his first appearance in court Thursday on charges he attempted to kill a 14-year-old at a carnival in Anaheim.
David Anthony Zaragoza was charged March 18 with attempted murder, mayhem and assault with a deadly weapon with sentencing enhancements for inflicting great bodily injury, personal use of a deadly weapon and attempted premeditated murder. Zaragoza did not enter a plea at his arraignment Thursday in the Central Justice Center in Santa Ana and was scheduled to enter a plea April 11 in the North Justice Center in Fullerton.
The defendant was accused of attacking the teen with a knife at a carnival about 9:15 p.m. March 9 at 1440 S. Anaheim Blvd., according to Anaheim police Sgt. Matt Sutter.
The victim was defending a friend who got in a conflict with Zaragoza and others, Sutter said.
Zaragoza pleaded guilty in October 2015 to assault with a gun and gang vandalism, both felonies, and admitted a sentencing enhancement for gang activity, according to court records. He pleaded guilty in March 2020 to a count of gang-related vandalism with a sentencing enhancement for gang activity.

Now you should report that his case was dimissed due to him being wrongfully accussed and others were identified and charged in this case . Its sad how your reporting ruins peoples reputations . You guys never go back and report the facts and the police department for anaheim is known for doing this and you continue to report what u want and not the whole stories others were arrested but only my son was reported all while no one who was actually stopped at the scene of the crime was their names published. And my son was not there and was sitting at home and was arrested the next day and we have fought since march and his case was dismissed because suprise ,suprise! No evidence at all it was a mistake of identity PUBLISH THAT!
