The body of woman was discovered by Caltrans workers in the Mid-City area Sunday.
Just before 9 a.m. Sunday, officers received reports of a body, which upon investigation was located within the Accident Investigation Site adjacent to the westbound Santa Monica (10) Freeway east of La Brea Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The victim was not immediately identified, her cause of death was not immediately known and details regarding how her body ended up in the region was unclear.
The discovery was being investigated by the CHP Southern Division Major Crimes Unit and anyone with information related to the incident was asked to call Southern Division Special Services at 323-644-9550 or 323-259-3200.
