A fire broke out Wednesday north of the Salton Sea in Mecca, scorching roughly 10 acres amid stiff winds.
The non-injury blaze was reported at 11:20 a.m. Wednesday in the area of Lincoln Street and 68th Avenue, roughly two miles north of the sea, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The agency said multiple engine crews were sent to the location and encountered flames in open space, burning at a moderate rate.
No homes or other structures were immediately threatened.
Firefighters were contending with windy conditions, which accelerated the blaze, but it was concentrated in an agricultural grow, officials said.
No evacuations were imminent.
The cause of the blaze wasn’t immediately known.
