A suspect who barricaded himself inside an apartment near Pershing Square in downtown Los Angeles after an explosion is in police custody, the Los Angeles Police Department said Thursday.
LAPD officers were called to the 400 block of Sixth Street between Hill and Olive streets at around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday regarding a trespassing suspect inside an apartment , the department said. As police entered the apartment, an explosion occurred and the suspect barricaded himself in the apartment.
The department’s Special Weapons and Tactics Team and Bomb Squad were contacted and after several hours, the suspect surrendered and officers took him into custody, the LAPD reported.
