Police Saturday are continuing their investigation of a 38-year-old woman who allegedly drowned her 7-year-old daughter in a bathtub in Van Nuys.
Los Angeles Police Department officers were called to an apartment building at 6841 Sepulveda Blvd., between Basset and Vanowen streets, at 5:40 p.m. Friday, an LAPD spokesman told City News Service.
The girl was pronounced dead at the scene.
KTLA5 reported the girl lived at the apartment with a man and a woman.
According to KTLA, the man reportedly found the girl’s lifeless body when he arrived home and began screaming for help.
The woman — who police said is the girl’s mother — was arrested at the scene.
The LAPD’s Valley Bureau Homicide Division is handling the case, NBC4 reported.
