A 71-year-old woman diagnosed with dementia was reported missing after last being seen Thursday in Artesia, prompting the issuance of a Silver Alert.
Maureen Zayas was last seen around 1:45 p.m. Thursday near Roseton Avenue and 180th Street, according to the California Highway Patrol, which issued the alert on behalf of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Zayas was described as a 5-foot-3-inch tall woman weighing 180 pounds with brown hair and green eyes.
She was last seen wearing a gray T-shirt and blue pants, and officers presumed she may be traveling in a gray 2007 Saturn Ion with California license plate 8GPJ358.
The Silver Alert was in effect in Los Angeles and Kern Counties.
Anyone with information regarding Zayas’ whereabouts was urged to call 911.
The Silver Alert program was established by the CHP to issue and coordinate alerts involving the unexplained or suspicious disappearances of elderly, developmentally disabled or cognitively impaired individuals.
