A 60-year-old man was killed and a 24-year-old woman was arrested in a two-vehicle crash Saturday in Riverside.

The crash was reported about 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of University and Park avenues, Riverside Police Department Sgt. Dan Macias said.

The preliminary investigation revealed the woman driving a gray 2019 Toyota Camry westbound on University Avenue collided with a white 2004 Nissan Titan pickup truck that was southbound on Park Avenue, Macias said.

The pickup driver was pronounced dead at the scene, he said.

“The driver of the Toyota Camry was evaluated by a Drug Recognition Expert and (they) determined the driver to be driving under the influence of cannabis,” Macias said. The woman, whose name was withheld, was arrested for suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and booked into Robert Presley Detention Center.

Both drivers were Riverside residents.

Anyone with information was asked to call Riverside Police Traffic Det. J. Derouin at 951-826-8722 or jderouin@riversideca.gov.
