Police Monday are continuing their investigation into the fatal stabbing of a man in Canoga Park.

The Los Angeles County medical examiner’s office withheld the man’s name pending notification of his next of kin, but said he was in his 30s.

The man was found suffering from a sharp-force injury at around 9:20 p.m. Thursday on the sidewalk in the 8500 block of International Avenue, according to Los Angeles police.

Officers were responding to a report of an assault when they found the man.

“A confrontation ensued, resulting in the suspect stabbing the victim in the upper extremities, ” according to an LAPD statement. ”The suspect then fled the scene on foot.”

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
