A 19-year-old man accused of stabbing a man in broad daylight in Santa Ana last August made his first court appearance in the case Monday.

Eyving Jair Vasquez was charged in August with the stabbing of the victim but remained out of custody. Santa Ana police issued a public call in October for help finding Vasquez, who was booked Saturday into the Orange County Jail.

Vasquez did not enter a plea at his arraignment and was scheduled to return to court Wednesday.

Co-defendants Jose Eduardo Mandujanofierros, 21, Andrew Gonzalez, 19, and Vasquez, were charged with attempted murder with sentencing enhancements for attempted premeditated murder, inflicting great bodily injury and the personal use of a deadly weapon.

Mandujanofierros and Gonzalez are next due in court May 30 for a pretrial hearing.

The man was attacked about noon on Aug. 6 at Sullivan Street and McFadden Avenue, police said. The victim was stabbed multiple times in his stomach, police said.

The criminal complaint alleges the victim was attacked with a knife and pipe.

The victim got into a dispute with the defendants at a park, police said.
