Two men were killed in a head-on traffic collision Wednesday in Long Beach, authorities said.
Officers and paramedics from the Long Beach Fire Department responded to an area near Seventh Street and Terraine Avenue at around 6:20 a.m. Wednesday, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
The paramedics noted that two men were in distress and immediately began rendering aid to the victims, but despite those measures, both men were pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Detectives later determined that a Honda Civic sedan was driving westbound on Seventh Street at a high rate of speed moments before losing control and veering into opposite lanes of traffic, colliding head-on with a Honda Accord.
The driver of the Accord was identified as 37-year-old Salvador Medina. The second victim’s name was being withheld pending notification of relatives.
