A 57-year-old pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Harbor Gateway, east of Gardena and police Thursday are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision.
The collision was reported at 2:40 a.m. Thursday and officers from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Southeast Division responded to the intersection of South Figueroa and West 146th streets, east of the Harbor (101) Freeway, where they learned the driver was heading south on South Figueroa when they collided with the pedestrian, an LAPD spokesman told City News Service.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by Los Angeles Fire Department personnel.
There was no description of the vehicle or the driver, who police said drove away from the scene without stopping to help the victim.
