Los Angeles police sought the public’s assistance Thursday in locating a hit-and-run driver who fatally struck a 68-year-old pedestrian near the Baldwin Village area.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the man was struck around 11 p.m. March 20 by a vehicle being driven at high speed on eastbound Coliseum Street near La Brea Avenue. The man was crossing Coliseum when he was struck.
The motorist failed to stop and render aid, continuing eastbound on Coliseum. Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics took the victim to a hospital, where he later died.
“Drivers are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency service, and remain at the scene to identify themselves,” the department said in a statement.
The city of Los Angeles has a standing reward offer of up to $50,000 for information leading to the identification, arrest, and conviction drivers involved in fatal hit-and-run crashes.
