A 12-year-old boy was shot and killed in a neighborhood park in Compton Friday.
The shooting occurred at approximately 3:55 p.m. in Fig/Oleander Park at North Oleander Avenue and West Fig Street, according to the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.
The boy was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, the Sheriff’s Information Bureau reported.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies chased the suspected shooter but he was able to get away, Fox 11 reported.
Sheriff’s investigators have not determined a motivate for the shooting. A description of the suspect has not been released.
Compton Fire Department officials confirmed to Fox 11 that the victim was 12 years old.
