A 25- to 30-year-old man is in the hospital Wednesday after he was shot by an unknown assailant in the Vermont Knolls neighborhood of Los Angeles.
Los Angeles Police Department officers were called at 1:45 a.m Wednesday to the intersection of 81st and Figueroa streets regarding a shots fired call. When they arrived at the scene, officers found a man with gunshot wounds sitting in the passenger seat of a silver Ford SUV, an LAPD spokesman told City News Service.
The victim told police he was standing on the corner when he heard gunshots and noticed that he had been struck by gunfire.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics were called to the scene and took the victim to a hospital in stable condition.
There was no suspect information.
