Police sought the public’s assistance Thursday in locating a hit-and-run driver who severely injured a 20-year-old pedestrian in downtown Los Angeles.
The woman was struck around 2:25 a.m. April 6 by a blue hatchback being driven north on Los Angeles Street near Olympic Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. The woman was crossing the street when she was struck, and the driver failed to stop, police said.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics arrived at the location and took the victim to a hospital for treatment.
“Drivers are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves,” police said in a statement.
Detectives released a surveillance clip of the collision in hopes of generating assistance with locating the suspect.
A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered by the city for information leading to the identification, arrest, and conviction of the suspect.
