A 47-year-old man who was fatally struck by two vehicles in Long Beach was identified Monday.

The crash occurred at about 9 p.m. Sunday at Pacific Coast Highway and Santa Fe Avenue, according to Long Beach Police Department Lt. Brian Fritz.

Long Beach Fire Department paramedics pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene, Fritz said.

He was identified Monday by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner as Elias Rivera Jr. of Ontario.

A 27-year-old resident of Wilmington was driving westbound on Pacific Coast Highway when he struck the pedestrian, who was crossing the street outside a marked crosswalk, police said.

Moments later, a 50-year-old Long Beach resident traveling the same route also struck the man, according to police.

Both drivers remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, police said.
