An investigation was underway Monday after a 47-year-old man was fatally struck by two vehicles in Long Beach.

The crash occurred at about 9 p.m. Sunday at Pacific Coast Highway and Santa Fe Avenue, according to Long Beach Police Department Lt. Brian Fritz.

Long Beach Fire Department paramedics pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene, Fritz said.

A 27-year-old resident of Wilmington was driving westbound on PCH when he struck the pedestrian, who was crossing the street outside a marked crosswalk, police said.

Moments later, a 50-year-old Long Beach resident traveling the same route also struck the man, according to police.

Both drivers remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, police said.

The victim was identified only as a 47-year-old Ontario resident, pending notification of next of kin.
