Five people suspected of being part of a burglary crew targeting homes in Irvine were charged Monday.

The defendants were identified as Jesus Antonio Hernandezchavez, 42; John Fredy Sanabria, 42; Duber Salarte, 48; and Jhon Marlon Osorioarias, 24, all of Fontana; along with Isneidy Ortizvalencia, 29, of Colton.

Police said the suspects broke into a home on Cultivate about 1:45 p.m. April 20, Easter Sunday. A resident called police after he received alerts from a home surveillance system showing the intruders, police said.

Officers found the home ransacked, with valuables such as designer purses and jewelry taken, police said.

Police arrested Osorioarias in the area after he claimed he had been delivering food through an app but failed to provide a customer address, police said.

While investigating Osorioarias, police were led to the other suspects, who were placed under surveillance that allegedly linked them to other break-ins throughout Southern California, police said.

All of the defendants were accused of burglaries on April 20 and May 15, and an attempted break-in on May 14, according to the criminal complaint.

Hernandezchavez and Ortizvalencia face two counts of burglary, a count of attempted burglary, a count of conspiracy to commit a crime and four counts of receiving stolen property, all felonies, as well as a misdemeanor count of possession of burglary tools.

Sanabria and Salarte face two counts of burglary, a count of attempted burglary, a count of conspiracy to commit a crime, all felonies, and a misdemeanor count of possession of burglary tools.

Osorioarias was charged with two counts of burglary, a count of attempted burglary, a count of conspiracy to commit a crime, all felonies, and misdemeanor counts of possession of burglary tools and unlawful tampering with a vehicle.
