A 68-year-old man who was found dead by sheriff’s deputies in Pico Rivera was identified by county authorities Saturday.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies responded shortly after 6 a.m. Wednesday to the 8300 block of Telegraph Road, near the Santa Ana (5) Freeway, to reports regarding an unresponsive man, according to the Sheriff’s Information Bureau
Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics arrived at the location a short time later and pronounced the victim, Alfredo Escamilla, dead at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner.
Further investigation led deputies to arrest a man in his 40s who resides at the residence.
The unidentified suspect was booked at the Pico Rivera Sheriff’s Station on suspicion of murder and was being held on $2 million bail.
It was unclear what motivated the fatal attack.
Sheriff’s officials said the case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for filing of charges.
