A woman driving a van who led police on a chase from Van Nuys to Woodland Hills was taken into custody at the end of the pursuit Monday after a shooting involving police officers, authorities said.
The woman’s condition was not immediately known, according to the Los Angeles Police Department’s Media Relations Division.
The pursuit began at about 7:45 a.m. Monday in the area of Hart Street and Garland Avenue in Van Nuys, where officers were responding to report of a woman with a gun.
The chase ended at about 8:10 a.m. at a cul-de-sac in Woodland Hills, in the area of Arcana Road and Marmora Street, where the woman — along with a dog — barricaded inside the van.
The shooting involving officers occurred a short time later and the woman was taken into custody at about 10:15 a.m.
Police did not immediately release further information, but ABC7 reported that the woman got out of the van and jumped on the vehicle’s roof while holding a gun to her head, then jumped off and ran onto the porch of a nearby home prior to the shooting.
