Cathedral City Elementary School was locked down Thursday after school officials received a phone call of someone threatening to shoot people at the school, and authorities Friday continued to investigate the threat.
Officers responded to the school, located at 69300 Converse Road, at 2:23 p.m. Thursday after officials received the phone call, according to Cmdr. Nate Hanley of the Cathedral City Police Department.
After the school went into lockdown, faculty dismissed the students to their parents, and police secured the location and two other schools nearby as a precaution.
“At this time, there are no further specific threats to Cathedral City schools,” Hanley said.
Anyone with additional information about the threat was urged to contact Detective Sgt. Barnett at 760-770-0381, or jbarnett@cathedralcity.gov.
