A Silver Alert is in effect Saturday in Los Angeles County for an at-risk 69-year-old man who was reported missing after last being seen in Downey.
Rafael Cortez was last seen at around 7:15 a.m. Friday near Everest and Downey streets, according to the California Highway Patrol, which activated the alert Friday on behalf of the Downey Police Department.
Cortez was described as 5 feet tall, weighing 130 pounds, with black hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a black hat, jacket, a light blue shirt and black pants.
Anyone with information regarding Cortez’s whereabouts was urged to call 911.
The Silver Alert program was established by the CHP to issue and coordinate alerts involving the unexplained or suspicious disappearances of elderly, developmentally disabled or cognitively impaired individuals.
