An armed robbery suspect who was killed in a shootout that wounded a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputy in Lancaster was identified by authorities Monday.
The situation started with a robbery call for service at 7:20 p.m. Saturday in the 1200 block of Meadow View Circle, near West Avenue K and 12th Street West, according to the sheriff’s department.
There was a shootout between at least one deputy and a man suspected of armed robbery. The shootout left the suspect dead at the scene and sent the deputy to Antelope Valley Hospital, where he underwent surgery.
The suspect was later identified by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office as 31-year-old Erick Berrios.
The deputy remained hospitalized Monday, but in stable condition, the LASD reported
