Two men killed in a two-vehicle crash that also injured two other people in the Sun Valley area of Los Angeles were identified by the medical examiner’s office Monday.

The crash was reported at 3:33 p.m. Saturday at 8000 N. Laurel Canyon Boulevard, at Strathern Street, according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Lyndsey Lantz.

A 20-year-old man, identified by the county medical examiner as Andrew Silva, was pronounced dead at the scene. A critically injured patient, identified as 24-year-old Anthony Angulo, died at a hospital, Los Angeles Police Department Valley Traffic Lt. E. Lopez told City News Service.

Both men were trapped when firefighters arrived and had to be freed using hydraulic tools.

The two patients with minor injuries, including a 45-year-old man, refused to be taken to hospitals by ambulance, Lopez said.

Traffic in the area was impacted by the wreckage and rescue efforts.

The cause of the crash was not immediately known.
