A 64-year-old bicyclist was wounded in a drive-by shooting in the Vermont Knolls neighborhood of South Los Angeles and an investigation was underway Friday.
Los Angeles Police Department officers from the 77th Street Community Police Station responded at around 11:12 p.m. Thursday to the intersection of Manchester and Vermont avenues regarding reports of a shooting. When they arrived at the scene, officers learned a man had been shot in a leg while he was riding a bicycle, an LAPD spokesman told City News Service.
Witnesses told police an unknown suspect drove up to the victim, shot him and drove away.
The victim was taken to a hospital by Los Angeles Fire Department personnel in stable condition, police said. According to reports from the scene, police found several shell casings along Vermont Avenue.
There was no suspect information.
