The 911 emergency system the Cathedral City Police Department reported was down was restored after about nine hours Wednesday.
The issue began around 7 a.m. Wednesday, and was operational as of 4 p.m. Wednesday, according to Sgt. Heather Olson.
Residents may continue to call 760-770-0303 for all non-emergency reasons, if needed.
The cause of the outage was not immediately known.
Similar phone issues have been reported this week across the Coachella Valley, including in Coachella, Indio and Palm Springs.
Officials in Coachella and Palm Springs said the connection problems were linked to the Frontier service provider, though no detailed explanation was provided.
