A man his 30s was found dead in downtown Los Angeles and an investigation was underway Wednesday into the death, authorities said.
Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Central Division responded at 3:48 a.m. Wednesday to reports of a man lying on the sidewalk near the intersection of Spring and Sixth streets. When they arrived, officers found the victim with lacerations on his neck, an LAPD spokesman told City News Service.
Los Angeles Fire Department personnel were called to the scene, where they pronounced the victim dead.
A witness told police that a possible suspect took property from the victim’s body and ran away.
Police established a crime scene in the area and were canvassing for additional witnesses and evidence, the spokesman said.
