Authorities were continuing a homicide investigation Sunday after a man was stabbed to death in Maywood.

Around 10 p.m. Saturday, deputies responded to 5900 block of Atlantic Boulevard, east of the Long Beach (710) Freeway, regarding a gunshot victim call, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies arrived to find paramedics rendering aid and learned the victim had been stabbed. Paramedics rushed the man to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

And investigation revealed the victim and suspect were involved in an altercation, which led to the stabbing. It was unclear if they had a prior relationship.

A description of the suspect, who remained at large, was unavailable.
