One person was killed Wednesday in an accident involving heavy machinery at the Sunshine Canyon Landfill in Granada Hills.
Firefighters were called to the scene at 14747 N. San Fernando Rd. at 9:25 a.m., according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
A piece of heavy machinery overturned, resulting in the victim’s death, the department said. The victim’s name, age and gender were not immediately released.
LAFD spokeswoman Lyndsey Lantz said Cal/OSHA was notified and requested to respond to the scene.
