A pedestrian was struck by a car and killed Friday morning on the transition road from the southbound San Diego (405) Freeway to the westbound Marina (90) Freeway in Culver City.

The California Highway Patrol was notified at 4:25 a.m. that a pedestrian had been struck by an Infiniti sedan.

The victim was pronounced dead by Culver City Fire Department personnel at 4:42 a.m., a CHP officer said. The person’s name, age and gender were not released.

The fatality shut down the transition road and a SigAlert was issued.

The SigAlert was cancelled at 7:12 a.m., according to the CHP.

It was the second fatality on the short stretch of freeway near Marina del Rey this week.

Chandler Jones, 33, a former NFL and Canadian Football League player who starred at Bishop Montgomery High School in Torrance and San Jose State University, was struck by a vehicle and killed near the western end of the 90 freeway around 2 a.m. on June 22.
