Orange County sheriff’s investigators Monday asked for the public’s help finding a hit-and-run driver who left a pedestrian clinging to life.

The collision occurred about 10 p.m. Friday at La Cresta Drive and Silver Lantern Street in Dana Point, sheriff’s deputies said. The victim, a man in his 40s, was rushed to an area hospital where he remains in critical condition, deputies said.

Sheriff’s officials released an image of a vehicle that was captured near the collision by a surveillance camera. It was described as a silver or beige car with damage to rear passenger side.

Anyone who might have helpful information for investigators was asked to call 949-425-1860. Orange County Crime Stoppers will accept anonymous tips at 855-TIP-OCCS.
