A man driving a pickup truck died Saturday when the vehicle crashed into an overpass on the transition from the northbound Golden State (5) Freeway to the eastbound San Bernardino (10) Freeway in Boyle Heights.
The crash was reported to the California Highway Patrol at 12:57 a.m. Saturday.
The 35-year-old man was trapped inside the truck and pronounced dead at the scene, according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Lyndsey Lantz. Firefighters used hydraulic tools to free the man’s body from the wreckage.
Two lanes of the transition road were shut down for the recovery and investigation.
