An armed burglary suspect holed up Sunday inside a residence in Lancaster, authorities said.
The situation was reported at about 8 a.m. Sunday in the 43900 block of Kirkland Avenue, near Joshua Elementary School, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Surrounding homes were evacuated for the safety of residents, and personnel from the sheriff’s Special Enforcement Bureau assumed tactical command. A sheriff’s Crisis Negotiation Team was attempting to make contact with the suspect.
