A brush fire possibly sparked by construction activity scorched about 47 acres of terrain in the Castaic area Tuesday, but no injuries or structural damage were reported.
The Bert Fire erupted around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in the area of The Old Road and Biscailuz Drive, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
Although the cause remained under investigation, video from the scene showed burn scars appearing to emanate from heavy construction equipment in the area.
Various aircraft were summoned to the scene to quell the flames, and the fire’s spread had been halted by shortly after 4 p.m., fire officials said.
Crews remained on the scene to continue mopping up hot spots in the burn area Tuesday afternoon.
