A man was electrocuted Tuesday after coming into contact with the third rail on Metro tracks at a station in the Westlake District, authorities said.
Firefighters responded about 11:30 a.m. to the Westlake/MacArthur Park Station in the 600 block of South Alvarado Street to reports of man down on tracks shared by Metro’s B (Red) and D (Purple) train lines, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The man, whose age was not immediately available, “apparently made contact with the electrically energized `third rail,”’ said the LAFD’s Brian Humphrey.
No one else was injured, he said.
It was unclear how the man ended up on the tracks.
