A 31-year-old man who was found dead at a Bell motel was identified Tuesday by county authorities.
Patrick Riley was identified as the victim by the Los Angeles County Office of Medical Examiner.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, at about 5:40 p.m. Sunday, a clerk at the motel in the 4400 block of Florence Avenue received a call requesting a welfare check on a tenant.
When the clerk entered Riley’s room, he found him unresponsive, so he immediately called 911.
Officers from the Bell Police Department responded and in turn summoned the Los Angeles County Fire Department, whose personnel pronounced Riley dead at the scene, according to the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.
The sheriff’s department did not disclose what led homicide detectives to take up the case.
