A 28-year-old initially suspected of attempted murder following the shooting of another man in Coachella is facing murder charges after the victim’s death, authorities announced Friday.
Gustavo Melendrez-Hernandez of Coachella was discovered suffering from a gunshot wound by deputies from the Thermal Sheriff’s Station in the 84000 block of Avenue 51 on Monday at approximately 10 a.m., according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office.
Melendrez-Hernandez was immediately rendered aid until the arrival of paramedics, who then took him to a hospital for treatment. He was pronounced dead on Thursday.
Cecilio Nando-Gonzalez, also of Coachella, faced a murder charge Friday, sheriff’s officials said.
