An investigation was underway Friday into a hit-and-run collision in West Hollywood that killed a man on a bicycle.
The victim was struck by an older-model, white BMW sedan about 9:45 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Fountain Avenue and Gardner Street, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau.
According to preliminary findings, the bicycle rider was headed west on Fountain when he was struck by the car, traveling in the same direction.
The BMW, which is suspected to have a smashed windshield on the passenger side as a result of the crash, did not stop.
The bicyclist, whose age was not disclosed, was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
It was not immediately known if alcohol and/or drugs played a role in the fatality.
