A man on a bicycle was killed Sunday when a vehicle crashed into him in the Vermont Square area of Los Angeles.
The crash occurred at 12:50 a.m. Sunday at Vernon Avenue and Figueroa Street, according to Los Angeles Police Department Officer Tony Im.
The vehicle was southbound on Figueroa and the bicyclist was eastbound on Vernon when they collided, Im said.
The bicyclist, a man roughly 30 years old, was pronounced dead at the scene, the officer said.
The man driving the vehicle was taken to a hospital by ambulance in critical condition, Im said. He was believed in his early 30s.
A news videographer at the scene said the vehicle also crashed into two parked cars.
The cause of the crash was being investigated.
