Police sought the public’s help Monday in identifying a hit-and-run driver who severely injured a bicyclist in the Pico-Union area of Los Angeles.
The collision occurred around 3:15 a.m. May 28, when a bicyclist traveling south on Hoover Street attempted to cross 20th Street and was struck by a white sedan making a left turn onto 20th Street from Hoover, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The driver of the sedan failed to stop and render aid to the victim, continuing westbound on 20th Street toward the Santa Monica (10) Freeway, police said.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics took the bicyclist to the hospital for evaluation and treatment. He was described only as a man in his 60s.
“Motorists are reminded that if they become involved in a traffic collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves,” police said in a statement.
The city is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the identity, arrest, and conviction of the suspect.
