Christopher Ramos is serving his second day as the city of Beaumont’s new chief of police Thursday after the departure of Chief Sean Thuilliez.

Ramos’ 24-year experience in law enforcement, including his previous roles as Captain, the city’s first Community Policing Officer, the department’s first Administrative Sgt., and as an Emergency Services Coordinator, helped him land the position after a lengthy selection process.

Ramos holds an M.S. in law enforcement and public safety leadership and a bachelors degree in business administration from UC San Diego. He is a graduate of the Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute and is enrolled in POST Command College. He also serves as an associate director on the California Police Chiefs Association Board of Directors.

“The city of Beaumont looks forward to the continued progress and leadership of Chief Ramos, a family-centered and dedicated Beaumont leader, as he serves the Beaumont Police Department and the community it protects,” said Mayor Mike Lara in a statement.

The agency serves more than 58,000 residents and consists of 11 police units, 60 sworn officers, 33 professional staff, 20 volunteers, two police K9 units and five patrol beats, according to the statement.

  1. Well maybe this Chief will do something about the dangerous lack of any traffic patrol, you almost NEVER see a traffic cop on Beaumont City Streets with a traffic violator pulled over, not on our streets or on our highways. People speeding well over the posted speed limits, constantly running through red lights, in the last 5 days I have see that happen 3 times at the intersection of Oak Valley Pky and Beaumont alone. I hope he will address a serious issue that makes driving in Beaumont feel unsafe for this 68 year old.
